This recoreded theatre performance is a part of the “Artists in Exile Series”, aiming to showcase Russian artists who are now creating from abroad.

The latest production in Russia directed by Yuri Butusov (the play premiered in January 2022), a free fantasy based on the play “Government Inspector” by Nikolai Gogol, delves into the dual impossibilities of accepting reality and escaping from it. As with many of Butusov’s stagings, chaos and pathos are seamlessly interwoven, with art presented as both freeing and healing. Written by Mikhail Durnenkov and featuring Konstantin Raikin and Timofey Tribuntsev.
