THE SUN LINE - Theatre performance
Andris Bulis and Marija Daniļuka
in Ivan Viripaev's play "Sun Line"
(performed in RUSSIAN)
A married couple in their forties, after seven years of marriage, experience a relationship crisis and try to find a way to stay together. The Playwright Ivan Viripaev has created the play "The Sun Line" as a tense dialogue between two loving people about true intimacy - revealing in a sparkling, ironic and humorous way the various mechanisms that prevent people from understanding and truly seeing and hearing each other. The night-long conversation between the spouses will be performed by actor Andris Bulis and actress Marija Daņiļuka, known to theatre audiences for her roles in M. Chekhov's Riga Russian Theatre and in the 2017 performance "Persian Language Lessons" at the Žanis Lipke Memorial.
In 2022, both actors received the award for Best Stage Partnership at the theatre festival in Vratsa, Bulgaria.
Playwright Ivan Viripaev lives and works in Poland and his plays have been successfully staged and popularised in Europe. In recent years, the plays The Iran Conference, The Thrill, Unbearably Long Embraces and The Drinkers have been staged. Viripaev's drama is characterised by rhythm, self-irony and humour - even serious stories and problems are told through laughter.
The performance "Sun Line" is produced by the independent production company "KatIZ". It premiered on 18 October 2021 at the Žanis Lipke Memorial, and in 2022 it was shown in Sofia and Vratsa (Bulgaria), Klaipeda (Lithuania), Liepāja, Daugavpils and Rēzekne.
